Audition Process

The Pitches hold auditions each fall and occasionally in the spring. The audition process is a weeklong affair, consisting of preliminary auditions and callbacks. Though rigorous, auditions are an extremely enjoyable way of sharing music and getting to know the Pitches.

Preliminary auditions are held over the period of three days and are open to all female-voiced Harvard undergraduates. The audition lasts about 5-10 minutes, and consists of a range test, pitch-matching exercises, and an optional sight-reading exercise. Additionally, auditionees should prepare a solo consisting of a verse and chorus from a song of their choice.

Following preliminary auditions, the Pitches select a number of auditionees for the second stage of auditions. Callbacks are held in the 3-4 days following preliminary auditions. During callbacks, auditionees learn and perform excerpts from the Pitches’ repertoire, and also have a chance to get to know the Pitches.

The morning after the final night of callbacks, the Pitches welcome their newest group of “babies”!

We hope to see you at auditions!
